A Different World. A Different Game.
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. —
Over 50 minority baseball players from around the state of Florida took part in the inaugural Florida Shine Classic Saturday at the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches.
The event is a showcase for baseball players to show off their skills in front of recruiters and college scouts.
The Florida Minority Baseball Alliance (FMBA) is dedicated to fostering the development and advancement of minority baseball players and coaches in the state of Florida. Through initiatives like the Florida Shine Classic, the FMBA aims to provide opportunities for minority players to excel in the sport and overcome barriers they may face due to socio-economic, cultural, or other factors.
"It's very important for us to give opportunity for young kids to see other kids in the game of baseball and draw them in and see the game of baseball. We are losing a lot of minority guys with football and basketball so we want to promote baseball in the most positive and exciting way we can in Florida," FMBA Founder, Bobby Gilbert Jr. said.
Florida Minority Baseball Alliance (FMBA), a committed group of First-Class coaches and community leaders prepared to synergize our efforts to connect, educate and promote the game of baseball to minority players, parents, and coaches across the State of Florida.
